Don't lose sight of the Call

In that moment, I was reminded of something important: Our security isn’t ultimately found in a house, a job, or anything we can lose. Our security is found in God.

Thank God it’s Friday.

It was only the fourth day of my 21-day fast, and like always, it didn’t take long for challenges to show up. I had just received my textbooks for theology courses, and I was excited, hopeful, and feeling like I was stepping into something God had been preparing me for.

Then, out of nowhere, everything shifted.

My dad shared that we were losing our home and we had only a short time to leave. I remember sitting there trying to think practically about next steps, then finally allowing myself to cry. It felt overwhelming, like the ground beneath me had given way.

Later that evening, as I tried to distract myself, I watched an episode of Touched by an Angel. One line stood out:

“It’s not about you. It’s about what God wants.”

I couldn’t help but smile, because the meditation I had just written earlier carried that very message.

In that moment, I was reminded of something important: Our security isn’t ultimately found in a house, a job, or anything we can lose. Our security is found in God.

Scripture says:

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills—from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord.” (Psalm 121:1–2)

There are seasons when it feels like everything is being stripped away all at once. But those moments also reveal where our trust truly rests.

God remains faithful, even when circumstances change.

He knows our coming and going.
He sees every detail.
He sustains us when we feel most vulnerable.

Challenges can tempt us to lose sight of purpose, to pause or turn back. But faith invites us to keep moving forward - even if things change.

Press on.
Walk if you can.
Crawl if you must.
But don’t lose sight of why you started.

Throughout Scripture, we see people who endured uncertainty yet continued trusting:

  • The woman who reached out in faith despite obstacles.
  • Disciples who left familiar lives to follow Christ.
  • Jesus, who prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”

Their stories remind us that perseverance often shapes the path to purpose.

If you find yourself in a season where life feels shaken, know that you are not alone and that God is still present in the middle of it.

Hold on to Him.
Keep seeking.
Stay grounded in faith, even when the next step isn’t clear.
