2009: A Time to Reflect and Refocus

A ministry that is not centered on Him will eventually lose its purpose. But when God is the foundation, even the smallest efforts can bear lasting fruit.

It’s that time of year again. The season when many of us sit down, make new plans, write new goals, and declare, “This is the year.”

As I reflect on the year that has passed, I find myself grateful. Grateful for the blessings God has given, the doors He has opened, and the new journeys and ministries that have taken shape. It has been a year of growth for many of us, and we should always pause to give God the glory for what He has done.

But reflection should do more than make us thankful; it should also make us intentional.

One thing I’ve observed is how easy it is for ministry to become busy, visible, even impressive… yet still miss the deeper work God calls us to do.

True ministry is not built on presentation alone. It requires:

  • Anointing
  • Humility
  • A genuine relationship with God
  • A heart aligned with His purpose

Creativity and excellence are wonderful tools, but they are not substitutes for transformation. Drawing a crowd can be encouraging, but the real question is whether hearts are being drawn closer to Christ.

It’s worth asking ourselves:

Are we filling seats… or are we helping lead souls to God?

As we step into a new season, I’ve taken time to examine my own walk and my own service. Where have I been busy but not as prayerful? Where can I lean more fully into God’s direction instead of my own plans?

A ministry that is not centered on Him will eventually lose its purpose. But when God is the foundation, even the smallest efforts can bear lasting fruit.

This is a good time to pause, seek God intentionally, and allow Him to realign our priorities.

Spend time in prayer.
Search His Word.
Ask Him to direct your path.

Place your work, your calling, and your influence back into His hands - where they belong.

Let this be a renewed mission, not just for a year, but for the way we live:

Reach one more.
Encourage one more.
Love one more.
Point one more person to Christ.

Sometimes the greatest impact begins with just one life at a time.
